Mature skin and natural care with oils

Dojrzała cera, a naturalna pielęgnacja olejami

Mature skin has high demands – due to the slowly progressing aging process, the skin's structure irreversibly becomes more delicate, thinner, and less elastic. Cosmetics often fail to deliver results or are too weak to deliver satisfactory results, and the skin requires more time, care, and the use of high-quality and effective cosmetics.

Mature skin requires a higher dose of emollients.

That's why natural oils are perfect for caring for increasingly demanding skin types. Thanks to their film-forming properties, oils coat the skin with a protective veil, which is crucial as the epidermis ages and rapidly loses moisture, quickly keratinizing, becoming rough, dry, and unpleasant to the touch. Thanks to oils, mature skin dehydrates more slowly and less effectively. This can be used not only in leave-on care (using oils as an oil serum or as an addition to creams and lotions), but also in rinse-off care if foaming cleansers prove too aggressive and cause a feeling of discomfort or unpleasant tightness (you can perform traditional OCM or use natural oils as an addition to cleansers to add creaminess and soften the effects of detergents). Oils also contain essential lipids and vitamins that nourish and elasticize the epidermal surface. As we age, skin becomes thinner, and the protective hydrolipid barrier weakens. The use of natural oils softens the skin superficially, provides it with essential fatty components and restores elasticity, radiance and smoothness.

Care and makeup for mature skin

What should you pay attention to when choosing an oil for mature and aging skin?

There's no single best oil for mature skin. The most recommended oils are those high in vitamin E, which perfectly regenerates, nourishes, softens, and soothes the skin. These oils include passion fruit oil, prickly pear oil, argan oil, marula oil, macadamia oil, and plum seed oil, which has a beautiful marzipan scent. Other substances are equally important, especially antioxidants in the form of pigments. Therefore, using oils rich in beta-carotene can yield excellent results: carrot seed oil, young green barley oil, sea buckthorn oil, pumpkin seed oil, or anthocyanins: cranberry seed oil, blackcurrant seed oil, maquiberry oil, elderberry seed oil, raspberry seed oil, strawberry seed oil, and dark blueberry seed oil. Also, pay attention to the oil's consistency. In most cases, thicker, essential oils, which require prior heating, are best for mature skin. They contain more saturated and unsaturated omega-9 fatty acids. If your skin is mature, be sure to look into avocado, hazelnut, jojoba, wheat germ, and pistachio oils.
