Washing makeup brushes and sponges should become a habit for everyone. Dirty brushes (especially those for foundation and concealer) harbor bacteria, which can cause imperfections, breakouts, or infections. Brushes used for liquid foundation should be especially well-maintained, ideally cleaning them after every use. Brushes used for loose makeup should be washed at least once a week.
It's also possible that an uncleaned brush, used repeatedly for blush or bronzer, will accumulate too much product, leaving unsightly stains. This can easily lead to an overdone effect, but it's also avoidable.

What can I use to wash my brushes?
There are many methods for cleaning brushes. The simplest is running water with a detergent.

To wash your brushes you can use:
- A gentle shampoo, e.g. for children.
- Antibacterial soap.
- Gray bar soap.
When washing, it's important to hold the brush properly. Water shouldn't get under the ferrule, as this can cause the handle to come undone or loosen.
You can use a silicone massage glove to wash your brushes under running water. It has ridges that reach every bristle perfectly, ensuring that even the most compact brushes are thoroughly cleaned.
Brushes can also be cleaned with a liquid specifically designed for this purpose. This is typically used by professionals – it both cleans and disinfects brushes. Cleaning this way is very quick and practical. However, it's important to remember that this is a temporary solution and that regular cleaning of our accessories shouldn't be neglected.

How to dry brushes?
The way you dry your brushes is important. The right technique helps maintain the quality of your brush and its bristles for longer. Remember to squeeze out excess water after washing your brushes. Then you can lay them out to dry. Brushes should dry naturally; remember not to place them near a radiator or use a hairdryer.
Water can't get into the ferrule, so don't place freshly washed brushes vertically. It's best to place them bristles down, or simply lay them flat. It's best to dry brushes on a towel rolled up with the bristles pointing slightly downward.
If you're concerned about deformation, you can dry your brushes in special covers. This will ensure they retain their shape.
Taking care of your brushes is crucial. Washing them regularly will eliminate the risk of skin inflammation caused by bacteria accumulating on uncleaned bristles. This also determines how long they will retain their quality, softness, density, and elasticity. It's worth it.
