Annabelle Minerals offers the Softie sponge family. Using only dry minerals, you can create a natural, even, lightweight, and radiant makeup look (perfect for summer!) with these sponges. Although it may seem impossible, you can easily achieve a perfectly even complexion without a mask-like effect using your favorite mineral foundation. A damp sponge allows the minerals to better adapt to your complexion, preventing dry patches, wrinkles, and creases. They can also better conceal imperfections without a mask-like effect, as the coverage can be built up. Applying with a sponge is also much easier than applying powders with a brush, as the sponge leaves less product on the skin, and the slightly watery, pleasant consistency of the minerals is easy to blend, reducing the risk of patches and unevenness. It's also a great way to apply highly pigmented mineral blushes in a light, very natural way.
Softie Annabelle Minerals Sponges
Softie sponges are soft and have a very delicate structure (they expand significantly upon contact with water). Their structure makes them ideal for applying mineral foundations, as they don't absorb excess powder and also release the product well onto the skin. This allows for the coverage to be adjusted by applying pressure. The material is latex-free, making them suitable for use by those with sensitive skin.
Sponges come in various shapes and colors:
- Peach Softie is a sponge with a beveled side that allows you to easily apply foundation and powder.
- Mint Softie has an hourglass shape, thanks to which we can apply the cosmetic to larger and smaller areas of the face with one sponge.
- The Pink Softie L has a traditional, egg-shaped, pointed shape. It works perfectly for applying foundation as well as for full-face makeup: the sharp tip will apply spot concealer, while the round bottom of the sponge will easily apply blush.
- Pink Softie M has a small size, thanks to which you can quickly and streak-free apply blush, highlighter, bronzer or under-eye powder.
- Pink Softie S is a small sponge whose small, neat and slightly elongated shape allows you to reach all nooks and crannies, for example around the nose.
Sponges should be replaced every 3-6 months, depending mainly on their use. Remember to clean and dry the sponge in a well-ventilated place after each use. Dirty material makes it difficult to release dirt, and the sponge hardens and cracks more quickly.

How to use a sponge to apply makeup?
Applying minerals with a sponge is very simple, and as I mentioned earlier, you can build the effect to your liking. Two popular techniques are: a more illuminating , blending-in approach, and a more opaque , powder-like finish.
The first step is to thoroughly wet it. I soak the Softie sponge in lukewarm water for a few seconds and squeeze out excess water several times. I'm looking for lighter coverage and a more natural look, so I don't drain the sponge with a paper towel, but leave it very damp, but not squirting. Then I dip the sponge in the foundation poured onto the lid and press it down vigorously to give the foundation a very light, pleasant texture. This gives the mineral foundation a fluid and easy-to-use consistency. I apply the foundation with pulling motions, then use the clean side of the sponge – With the Softie underneath, I pat it in. If you start pressing the foundation right away, it's very easy to get uneven color concentration. It's better to spread the pigment across the skin and then gently blend it in.
If you're looking for heavier coverage and a powdery finish, after wetting the sponge, squeeze out excess water, dry it with a paper towel, then dip it in mineral foundation and apply it immediately to your face using stamping motions. This method provides full coverage, but I recommend it only for spot application, as foundation is drier and more difficult to blend.
Applying foundation with a sponge doesn't require special skills or additional setting with powder. Furthermore, foundation applied with a sponge not only blends better with the skin but is noticeably longer-lasting.
You can also use a sponge to apply your favorite blush, bronzer, highlighter, or even concealer. It's the perfect way to apply highly pigmented cosmetics that require frequent application. It's tricky. The intense pigment requires practice and often a light hand. Using Softie eliminates this problem. You can apply blush in a very natural way – thanks to the moisture, Annabelle Minerals blushes become even creamier, more delicate, and more pleasant to use. They blend perfectly, and you can build up the effect as needed and touch up if necessary.

If you apply too much blush (and it can happen anyway), simply blend it out with the clean side of the sponge, pressing firmly. You can adjust the intensity of the blush to your liking. If there's still too much, even out the difference with a light layer of foundation on the sponge.
Applying with sponges has many advantages. One of them is the beautiful blending of foundations, allowing you to build up the final effect. You can easily get out of makeup trouble – cosmetics with a slightly damp, wet consistency are more amenable to touch-ups than dry, powdery products.
Applying with a damp sponge allows dry minerals to adhere better to the skin and blend more deeply. Thanks to Softie, applying mineral foundation has never been so simple, enjoyable, and quick.

Advantages of applying makeup with a sponge – who do I recommend this method to?
Above all, the quality and durability of your makeup will be elevated. Often, applying with a brush isn't easy, and despite the carefully selected formula, loose powders settle on dry skin, imperfections, and wrinkles. This can accentuate imperfections. Furthermore, applying minerals precisely isn't the easiest technique, and not everyone is comfortable with this technique. It's time-consuming, and a heavy hand doesn't always allow for even distribution. If you're familiar with this technique, or are still looking for a way to better blend minerals into your skin and extend their durability, Softie sponges are perfect for you.
The magic of sponges lies in their structure, the way they absorb water and release it when pressed. Mineral foundation, despite its dry form, becomes pleasantly creamy and fluid when touched by a damp sponge. It blends much better with the skin, avoiding a mask-like effect, and the blending of the minerals ensures a natural and long-lasting effect. It's also a wonderful way to apply highly pigmented cosmetics. Using Softie, you can apply foundation, blush, and other color cosmetics precisely and evenly without emphasizing dry patches, creases, wrinkles, or raised areas.

Cleaning and disinfection – how to use sponges hygienically?
Hygiene is crucial when using makeup sponges. Because they absorb water and take a long time to dry, they can become a breeding ground for harmful microorganisms. Therefore, they should be cleaned after each use. Mineral foundations don't penetrate the sponge and are also easy to remove. A standard, gentle wash with natural soap and thorough drying in a well-ventilated place is sufficient. It's worth soaking the sponge in isopropyl alcohol at least once a week to prevent bacterial growth. Don't leave the sponge dirty and don't delay cleaning it, as not only will bacteria and fungi begin to grow inside (which seems like a very good argument), but the sponge will also harden, crack, or become slippery due to yeast infection.
Applying minerals with a sponge allows you to achieve the effect of moisturized skin, covered with a barely-there layer of foundation, using lightweight mineral cosmetics. Is Softie already a part of your collection?
