How to prevent mineral foundation from curdling?

Jak zapobiegać warzeniu się podkładu mineralnego?

This is the biggest makeup nightmare, and not just with mineral foundations. A crumbling, crumbling foundation is a disaster that will ruin even the most beautiful and carefully applied makeup. How can this be prevented?

Proper care

Very often, the problem isn't the foundation itself, but rather the skin's condition and current skincare routine, which may not be compatible with mineral makeup. The problem can also be exacerbated by products that are too dry and lack proper hydration (which increases the activity of the sebaceous glands). Minerals can increase water loss and intensify the unwanted effect. This is characterized by seborrheic dermatitis – makeup loses its fresh appearance very quickly (from about 30 to a maximum of 120 minutes) after application. Oily textures also don't work well with mineral cosmetics, so those who use highly nourishing creams that aren't suited to their skin's current needs or struggle with increased seborrhea will have similar problems maintaining the longevity of their mineral foundation. The solution is to normalize the function of the sebaceous glands and apply an appropriate daily dose of hydration.

A good base

Mineral products work best on well-groomed, properly moisturized skin. To choose the right base, first assess your skin's moisture retention capacity and your skin's need for coating agents. Skin that doesn't struggle with dehydration will respond well to very light creams with a gel or cream-gel texture. A worthwhile product for this skin type is Annabelle Minerals Soft Cream – a very light, quickly absorbing cream based on natural ingredients. Those who complain of rapid water loss should protect their epidermis better, but avoid nourishing, thick formulas. Ideally, they should work well with the skin and gradually absorb over time without causing pore enlargement. Additional skin priming may be a solution to reduce the oiliness of the product. Annabelle Minerals clay powder works well as a primer, while creams should have a relatively light, yet noticeably enveloping formula. More nourishing products, diluted with a watery serum or toner, also work well. People with typically oily skin who don't have any issues with water management can use very light formulas before applying mineral foundation (e.g., essence) and, if necessary, an additional primer, which will properly prepare the skin for makeup and prevent oils from mixing with dry foundation.

Priming

Depending on your skin's needs, three types of consistency can work well as a primer: gels, powders, and light moisturizing mists. It all depends on your skin's needs.

Gels are great for shrinking pores, providing very gentle hydration, and isolating sebum from mineral foundation. Most of them are quite sticky, so they hold makeup in place for many hours.

Powders act as a kind of barrier against oil, and clays (like Annabelle Minerals clay powder) and silicas are excellent for this purpose. They gradually absorb oil and prevent the two opposing consistencies from mixing. Powders also fill pores, preventing unsightly foundation settling.

Mists gently coat the skin and are also slightly sticky. They balance moisture and lock minerals in place. They are perfect for those who experience increased seborrhea only after using mineral cosmetics, but don't experience this problem with traditional, creamy foundations.

Don't forget to set your mineral foundation

Mineral foundation itself is a finishing powder, but if you're experiencing unsightly foundation separation issues, don't forget to apply additional setting powder. You can do this in several ways:

– dry, with powder. Ideally, it should be based on compounds that strongly absorb moisture, such as silica, bamboo, or rice. The Annabelle Minerals finishing powders are worth mentioning here: the mattifying Pretty Matt and the illuminating Pretty Glow ;

– wet, with a damp cotton pad. The added moisture will loosen the skin and prevent it from becoming oily quickly. If the problem is skin feeling too tight after applying foundation, this method can yield great results;

– wet, with a moisturizing mist. If your usual creams under mineral makeup aren't working for you, and your powders and self-applied foundation are separating too quickly, the problem may lie in the need for light but tailored hydration. A mist provides the right moisture for your skin without weighing it down like creams do.

Baking method

This method allows for maximum mattification of the skin and strong oil absorption. To enhance the effect, slightly dampen the sponge, squeeze out excess water, and apply a generous amount of mattifying powder to the sponge. Press it against the skin and iron it in. This method can also be performed dry, but the powder will then adhere less well.
