Makeup and makeup removal: what products to use?

Makijaż i demakijaż: jakich produktów używać?

Healthy skin, free of imperfections and redness, is a huge asset. It's also a source of satisfaction and confidence. The first step is to determine your skin type and complexion type. If your skin is excessively oily, it means you have oily or combination skin. If your skin is rough, often tight, and you feel it needs a lot of lubrication and hydration, it's dry skin. Reactions to various factors: water, changes in weather, changes in diet (spicy foods, chocolate), and emotions, allow you to determine whether your skin is sensitive. If your skin reacts to these factors with redness and tightness, you likely have sensitive skin. In such cases, it's worth choosing hypoallergenic skincare and makeup products free of alcohol, parabens, artificial colors, and fragrances. These products don't irritate the skin, and regular use improves its condition, appearance, and appearance.

Once you've determined your skin type, it's worth matching your makeup to yours. If you have sensitive skin, such as couperose skin, or acne-prone skin with imperfections, choose products with natural ingredients, such as mineral cosmetics. They have minimal ingredients and are free of preservatives, parabens, mineral oils (paraffin), waxes, and fragrances—all of which can negatively impact sensitive skin. Furthermore, they don't clog pores, so if you have sensitive, atopic, or acne-prone skin, these products are worth choosing because they don't weigh down the skin and allow it to breathe. Daily makeup removal is the foundation of skincare—a habit, a ritual. Well-cleansed facial skin has a chance to regenerate overnight, leaving it radiant and imperfection-free every day. No cream will deliver the desired results if the skin isn't perfectly cleansed. Uncleaned makeup, dirt, and dust contribute to the formation of blackheads and inflammation. Don't skip cleansing your face, even on makeup-free days. Throughout the day, sebum, sweat, bacteria, and other impurities accumulate on your skin and in your pores, so it's important to care for your skin morning and night.

1. Choose the right cosmetic for your skin needs

Drugstores offer a wide selection of makeup removal products. It's important to recognize your skin type so you can choose the right product for your skin, its needs, and requirements. If you have combination/oily skin, choose gels or foams that remove excess sebum, with mattifying and pore-tightening properties. It's worth paying attention to the ingredients they contain – avoid those containing alcohol. If your skin is dry and reacts to water with tightness, choose a gentle foam or creamy gel for dry skin, or cleanse with a milk cleanser. Sensitive skin requires special care and attention; it's worth heading to the dermocosmetics aisle, which are hypoallergenic and won't irritate even the most sensitive skin. The most popular makeup remover for the face and eyes is micellar water. The selection is wide – choose one that suits your skin's needs. Micellar fluid is gentle, perfectly cleanses the skin and does not damage the protective hydrolipid layer of the epidermis.

2. How often should you cleanse your facial skin?

Cleanse your face at least twice a day. In the morning, before applying your day cream, to refresh and remove impurities and excess sebum from the night. Simply wipe your skin with a pad soaked in micellar water or toner. In the evening, start by removing your makeup. Bi-phase cleansers are best for eye makeup removal. They contain an oil phase that quickly removes makeup—even waterproof ones. You can also use an oil or a blend of oils appropriate for your skin type. After removing your makeup, use a toner to restore the skin's proper pH and ensure it is perfectly clean. This will allow the night cream to absorb properly, and the active ingredients will nourish it.

3. Treat your skin gently

Take care of your skin and remove your makeup gently. Don't rub or rub it with a cotton pad – there's no need for this, especially when it comes to the delicate skin around your eyes. Place a cotton pad soaked in eye makeup remover on your closed eyelid and wait a few seconds for the liquid to combine with the mascara and dissolve it. Then, remove your eye makeup by moving the pad down along your lash line, then from the outer to the inner corner of your eye. When removing makeup, pay special attention to areas where imperfections and blackheads most often appear, such as the nostrils and hairline. When washing your face, gently massage your skin and then use a toner appropriate for your skin type. Also, remember to exfoliate your face once a week. If you have normal or combination skin, choose a fine-grained exfoliator. If you have dry and sensitive skin, or oily skin with imperfections, an enzymatic exfoliator is best, as it will remove dead skin cells very gently.

4. The last step before applying the cream

After cleansing, finish by toning your skin. Toner will restore its proper pH and prepare it to absorb creams and active ingredients from skincare products. Don't forget this step of makeup removal. Choosing makeup and makeup removal products has a significant impact on the condition of your skin. Use these tips to enjoy healthy skin every day. If you notice any flaws in your skincare routine, consider them and make changes, and you'll see your skin look better day after day.
