Honey is a valued product, both nutritionally and cosmetically. However, not all honey is created equal. There are many different types of this product on the market, and they differ not only in packaging and color—they have completely different properties and flavors.

Therefore, it is worth taking a closer look at honey so that next time you can more consciously choose the type that suits your needs and taste preferences.

If you have a beekeeper friend nearby, they'll certainly help you choose the right sweet nectar. However, if you're on your own, read this short overview. I think it will be useful not only in the fall and winter, but also in the second half of the year, when we sweeten our lemonades and summer desserts.

Let's take a look at some of the most popular types of honey:

1. Multiflower honey – this is a very popular type of honey, primarily due to its flavor and color. Multiflower honey is created when bees collect nectar from multiple plants at the same time. This product is considered helpful in the treatment of liver and gallbladder diseases. Furthermore, its sweetness makes it a favorite among children, making it useful as a treatment for the flu or cold.

2. Linden honey – has a rather strong flavor, with a slight bitterness. Its scent is reminiscent of linden blossoms. It also has many valuable properties, primarily antispasmodic, antipyretic, expectorant, and diaphoretic. It is also valued for its antibiotic properties.

3. Acacia honey – a light-colored nectar. Valued primarily for its ability to support the treatment of digestive system diseases. It also has a calming effect and promotes sleep.

4. Buckwheat honey – This is one of the darker honeys on the store shelf. It has the color of strong tea. It has a sharp taste and a distinctive aroma. It is recommended for circulatory system diseases and strengthens the immune system. It also has a beneficial effect on vision disorders.

5. Rapeseed honey – has a very light, almost transparent color. It helps with circulatory system diseases and lowers blood pressure. It's good for colds and accelerates wound healing, including burns.

Honey is a valued product in many areas. It's worth knowing its properties and types to equip yourself with new and useful information when searching for your favorite sweet nectar.

Beata and Patrycja – creators of the blog Z Pamiętnika Dietetyka (Dietetics' Diary) , authors of a book about healthy eating, and sisters in private. They are a harmonious duo, despite their different worldviews. Beata, a dietitian by profession, loves to set high goals for herself, which is why she turned to dietary catering as a career, wanting to take care not only of her own health but also of all Warsaw residents. Patrycja, on the other hand, has a journalism degree and loves cooking and documenting her adventures in the kitchen. She works on the artistic side of the blog daily, and as she herself admits, nothing is impossible for her. She always strives for her goal, even though it's often uphill.
