The best homemade hair rinses

Najlepsze domowe płukanki do włosów

Basic hair care can be summarized in a few steps: cleansing with shampoo, conditioning with conditioner, intensive care with a mask, and protection against further damage. Various types of rinses are often overlooked. When combined with the right products, they can help add shine, moisturize, or enhance hair color, regardless of whether it's dyed or natural. The basic rule to follow when using them is consistency. Only then will you enjoy the results. Also, remember that herbs can dry out your hair and, like other natural products, lead to allergies. Before testing a new rinse, it's worth conducting an allergy test. The basic form of a rinse is a solution of cool water with a specific additive, depending on your preferences, poured over your hair immediately after washing and rinsing out any balm.

Polishing agents: beer, vinegar and lemon

Our mothers and grandmothers used beer rinses successfully. It was a simple way to add shine and volume. The hops in beer strengthen hair follicles and soothe skin irritations, while the B vitamins regulate sebaceous gland function. The beer should be opened and, after degassing, diluted with water in a 1:4 ratio if your hair is dry and porous, or approximately 1:2 for healthy hair. After thoroughly washing, moisturizing, and towel-drying, pour the solution over your hair. Importantly, the scent completely dissipates after rinsing. Another commonly used method is a rinse with apple cider vinegar or lemon . These owe their properties to their acidic nature, which seals the hair cuticles and adheres more tightly. This allows the hair's surface to reflect light beautifully. Preparing both is incredibly simple: add a tablespoon of our rinse to a jar of cool water and mix. It does not require rinsing, and its additional advantage is that the products needed to create it can be found in every kitchen.

Moisturizing: linseed and aloe

Flaxseed is widely used in the care of dry, dull, and brittle hair. It's ideal for those with curly, damaged, bleached, or split-end hair. The result? Moisturized, beautifully shiny, and soft hair. Pour a cup of water over a tablespoon of flaxseed and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently. Strain while still hot (this may not be possible later) and allow to cool. Then, dilute slightly with water to create a liquid rinse. Pour it over washed hair. Flaxseed can be stored in the refrigerator for a week. It works not only as an ingredient in a rinse, but also as an addition to a mask or applied on its own. If you're a fan of semi-finished products, you're probably familiar with concentrated aloe vera extract . Natural aloe gel or juice, which you can easily find at the pharmacy, will also work well as a rinse. Keep in mind, however, that this is one of the most allergenic products. However, if you're not allergic to it, it will be useful if your hair lacks moisture and your scalp is dry and irritated. The proportions in the rinse are flexible, but the more aloe vera juice you add, the stiffer your hair will become. So, if your locks are dry and difficult to style, reduce the amount of juice.

For strengthening and dandruff: rosemary

Most of us associate rosemary with its distinctive, fresh scent. Few people, however, know that it's also excellent for hair care. It promotes hair growth, combats dandruff, and reduces excessive oiliness. It also smooths and adds shine. It also soothes irritations and calms the scalp . Steep a few sprigs of fresh or dried rosemary and let it cool completely. Use a cool infusion. You can also leave the rinse on your hair for a moment and rinse with cool water. Add a little apple cider vinegar to the solution for even shinier and smoother hair.

For blondes: gentian and chamomile

Blonde hair is a unique color often worn by Polish women. However, it requires special care, as it can take on an unsightly yellow tint shortly after dyeing. A gentian -based hair rinse can be a solution. The aqueous solution has an intense purple hue that neutralizes overly warm tones. When using it, the quantity and caution are important, as it can stain clothes or skin if not diluted properly. Add a few drops of gentian to a container of cool water (the water should be only slightly purple) and, as with other rinses, rinse your hair with it immediately after washing. For best results, use it regularly, but if it's still not enough, purple shampoo, available at any well-stocked drugstore, can help. A natural way to enhance the sun-kissed highlights in blonde hair is chamomile . Boil two chamomile tea bags in 500 ml of water for ten to fifteen minutes and let it cool. Rinse your hair with the prepared solution immediately after washing, and then proceed to styling as usual.

For brunettes: sage and oak bark

Sage beautifully enhances dark hair, slightly darkens it, and adds shine. It also smooths and slightly straightens strands. Boil three tea bags of the herb in half a liter of water. Pour the cooled infusion over your hair after washing. Remember that, as with other herbal rinses, it should be used after thoroughly moisturizing your hair. Otherwise, it may cause slight roughness. Note that sage extract can stain, so use a dark towel. The same applies to oak bark . It will provide similar results to the sage mentioned above.

For redheads: rooibos tea and onion peels

Red hair is becoming more and more common on the streets, but like blonde, it's difficult to maintain. If your hair is naturally copper-colored, or you've colored it and want to give it a nice shine, try rooibos tea . Brew about three to five tea bags (or a comparable amount of loose-leaf tea) and let it cool completely. Pour the brew over your hair. Wait about half an hour, then rinse with lukewarm water and wash as usual. Another method is a homemade onion peel rinse . The preparation is simple: rinse the peels and boil the water until the water acquires an intense color. Then pour it over your hair.
