Cleansing the scalp - 5 proven methods

Oczyszczanie skóry głowy - 5 sprawdzonych sposobów

Traditional shampoo isn't always enough. If your scalp quickly becomes oily or occasionally experiences dandruff, it's worth expanding your care routine with more powerful cleansing products. Used regularly, they quickly deliver visible results and streamline the hair care process. You can use homemade mixtures or ready-made products; all are equally effective and help keep your scalp in good condition.

It's worth noting, however, that if your hair or scalp are causing you long-term problems and you're unable to resolve the situation, it's worth seeing a specialist who will make a diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatments. Sometimes it's best not to start treatment on your own. It's also worth remembering that any untreated scalp condition can lead to hair loss and, ultimately, baldness, so at some point, it's not worth risking it.

DIY sugar scrub

Preparing the scrub takes just a few seconds. Simply mix 3 tablespoons of sugar with 2 tablespoons of cleansing shampoo, and optionally enrich this mixture with 1 tablespoon of clay, such as green clay. Combine the ingredients, wet your hair and scalp, and begin a thorough massage. Controlling the pressure to avoid irritation, massage for a few minutes. Then rinse. The sugar particles dissolve very easily, so removing them is easy. Immediately afterward, apply your favorite mask or conditioner. The sugar gently exfoliates dead skin cells and scales. This treatment oxygenates and strengthens hair follicles, leaving hair fresher and stronger at the roots for longer. It also improves styling. This treatment is best practiced once a week or every two weeks, depending on your needs.

Clay mask

Another home remedy is a clay mask. Simply mix a little water with green clay (if you have a very oily scalp) or another, slightly milder clay, such as white. This type of treatment will help regulate sebum production, cleanse, and refresh both skin and hair. It will also soothe itching. It's truly worth incorporating clay into your daily skincare routine, not just your face. It's a good idea to prepare this mixture once a week. You can also enrich it with other soothing or moisturizing ingredients, such as aloe vera gel.

Phenome Purifying Hair Mask

This mask is designed to cleanse the hair and scalp. It removes excess sebum, styling product residue, and all environmental pollutants. The product has a thick consistency and tiny, yet powerfully abrasive particles. These effectively cleanse and exfoliate dead skin and sebum. Application is very easy and pleasant, as you simply apply a small amount of the mask to damp scalp and hair and massage in. The difference before and after is huge. Immediately, you'll feel your head weighs less, is lighter, and your hair is fuller, thicker, and lifted from the roots. It also becomes oilier less quickly, retains its volume longer, and is easier to style. This product isn't cheap, but it's well worth the price.

Pharmaceris H-Stimupeel cleansing trichological scalp scrub

Another ready-made solution. This cosmetic comes in convenient packaging – the tube with a spout makes application easy and evenly distributes the scrub on the skin. The consistency is creamy, thick, and contains large, coarse, and easily visible particles. The scrub does a great job of exfoliating dead skin, removing sebum, and any impurities. As with the Phenome mask, a short but thorough massage is enough to cleanse the skin and leave it feeling fresh and light. Skin is clean, flake-free, yet soothed and irritation-free. Hair gains volume and a nicer appearance. Hair becomes less oily and requires washing less often. Another advantage is its effectiveness and relatively low price. It's definitely worth trying.

Cerkogel30 Keratolytic Gel for the Scalp

An inexpensive and effective urea product. It comes in a gel form and comes in a convenient, spout-shaped container. Its lightweight formula doesn't weigh down hair, so it can be used between washes. It doesn't leave a greasy residue, isn't sticky, and doesn't stain. Simply rub the product into your scalp, gently massaging it in. After about 40 minutes, brush it out (which will slightly stiffen the roots) or wash your hair. It moisturizes the scalp, soothes irritation and itching, and softens and exfoliates dead skin cells. It may not provide the same sensation of refreshment as other products, but it certainly provides incredible relief. It helps restore balance to irritated and dry scalp, so it's worth having on hand.

All of the cosmetics presented above produce similar results and can be used interchangeably. However, it's important to exercise moderation and avoid overdoing this type of treatment, as excessive use can be harmful, just like anything else. Of course, it's also important to remember that any products with particles shouldn't be used on open wounds or irritations, as this could worsen the skin's condition. In such cases, mechanical exfoliation should be avoided and non-abrasive cosmetics should be used until all lesions have fully healed.
