Proven ways to sleep better

Sprawdzone sposoby na lepszy sen

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Do you wake up several times during the night and wake up exhausted in the morning? Then this article is for you. Below, you'll find some helpful tips that will help you improve your sleep quality and perhaps help you finally get out of bed feeling rested in the morning.

Air out the bedroom

Before going to bed, open the window briefly to let some fresh air into your bedroom. The lower temperature has a beneficial effect on your mind – it allows you to calm down, oxygenate, slow down, and relax. Falling asleep immediately becomes easier.

Take care of the pleasant smell

If you're having trouble sleeping, get a relaxing scent to brighten your evening. Lavender is soothing and relaxing, but if you prefer other scents, you're sure to find something suitable in the Yankee Candle or Kringle Candle range. Just remember, these shouldn't be intense or intoxicating. Essential oil, wax melts, or a scented candle are best.

Get rid of distractions

At least an hour before bed, turn off all electronic gadgets. Put away your laptop and phone, don't absentmindedly scroll through social media, and focus on other activities that will help you calm down and relax. Unfortunately, the light emitted by our smartphone screens worsens sleep quality and, instead of calming us down, stimulates our brains, making it much more difficult to fall asleep.

Plan your next day

Often, the rush of thoughts in our heads keeps us awake, so it's worth writing down all our tasks and planning the next day. Planning helps clear and calm our minds, and notes of all kinds provide a sense of control, increase our efficiency, and improve organization. We can lie in bed with peace of mind and indulge in blissful laziness, knowing that nothing important will escape us the next day.

Get ready for the morning

If every morning is rushed and you don't have time for anything, maybe it's worth preparing properly? In the evening, lay out your clothes for the next day, pack a bag, and prepare the ingredients for breakfast. Not only will you avoid thoughts like "Is there really a stain on this black dress?", but you'll also have time for your morning coffee.

Don't overeat

It's worth making sure to eat a light dinner at least three hours before bed. Avoid pizza and other heavy snacks, like chips, in the evening. If you go to bed full, not only will you toss and turn all night, but you might also have strange dreams. Alcohol isn't exactly conducive to falling asleep, so a glass of wine or a nightcap won't exactly soothe you. On the contrary, it will stimulate you and negatively impact your well-being the next day.

Have everything you need at hand

How often do we go to bed and suddenly remember something? It's worth having the essentials nearby, preferably on the bedside table. These include a glass of water, glasses, hand cream, a hair tie, tissues, or lip balm. If we get thirsty at night, we won't have to get up and run to the kitchen. Such nighttime wanderings wake us from sleep, leaving us tired and feeling sleepless during the day, so it's best to avoid them.

Take care of your comfort

The foundation of good sleep is a comfortable mattress, soft bedding made of pleasant, delicate fabrics, and pajamas that allow unrestricted movement and allow the skin to breathe. Don't go anywhere without these! So, take care of the atmosphere in your bedroom and make sure your nighttime comfort isn't hindered by too-tight pajama bottoms, too-firm pillows, or sheets that sag.

Work on regularity

Our sleep regularity also has a significant impact on the quality of our sleep. It's worth working on going to bed at a similar time each night and waking up at the same time, even if we have the day off. A consistent daily rhythm makes it easier to fall asleep, strengthens sleep, and noticeably affects our energy levels in the morning.

Consider darkening your bedroom

If you can't install blinds or shutters in your bedroom, at least consider curtains that block out light. It's hard to fall asleep and stay awake when it's bright outside. Especially now, in the summer, when the nights are short and the temperatures and sun are making their presence felt, it's worth darkening the bedroom at least a little. Another solution is special eye masks, which also help you relax, calm down, and fall asleep anywhere – they're great for all kinds of trips.
