Dry body brushing

Szczotkowanie ciała na sucho

Once little known, dry body brushing is now very popular and practiced by countless women. What is it and what is its underlying phenomenon? What benefits does it bring to the skin and the entire body? Who should avoid dry body brushing? We'll focus on the details of this treatment later in this article; we encourage you to read on.

What is dry body brushing?

Dry brushing is simply a massage of the skin with a brush. However, for it to be effective, it must be performed correctly. Use vertical, sliding movements, starting from the bottom (feet, wrists, pelvis, or buttocks) and always moving upwards, towards the heart. Do not moisturize the brush or your skin. No lotions or oils are allowed. It's best to brush your body before a shower, as it's the most effective way to remove dead, exfoliated skin. At first, the feeling of "stroking" the bristles may not be entirely pleasant, so it's best to start with a short massage and then slowly increase the duration to about 10 minutes. After bathing, apply your favorite moisturizer or anti-cellulite product as usual.

Essentials for beginners - which brush should you choose?

When choosing a brush, focus primarily on the bristles. Natural bristles, optionally with plastic ridges, work best. Furthermore, the bristles should be medium-sharp. Feeling rough, sharp, and scratchy during initial massage attempts is completely normal and will subside over time. However, the brush should not injure or cause visible scratches. Another important aspect is the shape of the treatment tool itself – brushes with various handles are more comfortable and easier to use.

Benefits of dry brushing

Dry brushing offers many benefits. The difference is immediately noticeable after the first massage. However, it's important to remember that, as with many other treatments, consistency is key to success. Regular brushing will leave your skin smooth and free of dead skin, improve skin tone, even out its texture, and increase its elasticity and firmness. Furthermore, brushing helps combat keratosis pilaris, ingrown hairs after hair removal, and the dreaded cellulite. Dry massages also facilitate the removal of toxins from the body and improve blood circulation. It's also a great way to wake up, boost your energy, or relax after a long day.

It's worth remembering

When brushing, it's important to remember to be gentle. Don't press the brush with full force or press the bristles too hard against the skin. It's also worth mentioning that there are several contraindications to the procedure. You should avoid the massage if you experience irritation or cuts. There's also bad news for those with broken capillaries; in this case, it's best to avoid brushing to avoid increasing the number of spider veins. Pregnant women, however, should avoid the abdominal and breast areas.

In summary, if you're not one of those women who wouldn't recommend dry body brushing, and you're interested in improving your skin's condition, don't hesitate and start today. The results are truly worth it. A definite plus is that you don't need any specialized tools or expensive cosmetics, and most importantly, you can do it yourself at home. So, what do you think?
