What is wet mineral makeup?
The wet mineral makeup technique involves applying mineral color cosmetics using wet tools: sponges or brushes.
What is this technique used for and who is it suitable for?
This technique allows for, among other things, even better results in terms of blending cosmetics with the skin, a slightly different finish than when applying products with dry bristles, and a more intense shine from illuminating cosmetics. It may appeal to those with dry and dehydrated skin, as it provides additional hydration, as well as to those who prefer creamier textures to powders.
How to moisten brushes and sponges?
The best results, especially in terms of skincare, can be achieved by wetting the bristles of brushes or the surface of a sponge with thermal water or floral waters, also known as hydrolates. These two fluids moisturize, tone, refresh the skin, and tighten pores. The basic fluid, however, is tap water or mineral water.
What does this wet application technique look like in practice?
The first step is to moisten your tools: it's a good idea to spray your brushes from a short distance with your chosen liquid—thermal water, hydrolate, tonic, or mineral water—and blot the excess moisture with a tissue. Moisten the sponge by dipping it in water or another suitable liquid.
The next step is to pour a small amount of mineral makeup onto a saucer, such as the lid of a jar. Using a damp bristle brush or sponge, scoop up a small amount of powder, tap off the excess, and gently press it onto the skin. You can use a stamping and circular motion with a brush, or stamping and pressing motions with a sponge.
Which cosmetics can be applied using the wet method?
Almost any type of cosmetic can be applied this way: from foundation, to blush, bronzer, and even eyeshadow. Using the wet method, you can transform loose eyeshadow into eyeliner.
When using the wet makeup method, should I change my skincare routine, for example, use a different cream?
The wet makeup technique doesn't require any special care or changes to your current skincare routine. You can apply the same cream as with traditional dry makeup using loose mineral cosmetics.
Top tips for wet technique:
1. moisten in moderation - the bristles and sponge should be well squeezed out of excess liquid,
2. to moisten the hair, if you decide not to use water, use only proven tonics and hydrolates,
3. take small amounts of the cosmetic on a brush or sponge - too much will cause problems during application and may create a mask effect or the so-called sponge cake - getting into pores, streaks, stains, streaks,
4. before applying the powder directly to the face, you can pre-mix the cosmetic on the back of your hand and only then apply it,
5. If slight stains appear during wet application, corrections can be made using a dry brush and rubbing the area where the streak appeared.
