Spring has arrived in earnest. The beautiful sun is peeking through the windows, encouraging us to act and live! It's high time to awaken from our winter slumber and take care of our mental health. How? Learn to be happy—it's easier than you think.
Around 70,000 thoughts enter our minds every day. This means we have exactly 70,000 opportunities to lift ourselves up or… bring us down. The decision is ours. Worrying, questioning our decisions, or doubting ourselves harms both our mental and physical health! Our bodies are weakened, leaving us without the will or strength to do anything. Learn how to remedy this and embrace happiness.
Take action instead of thinking!
A well-known proverb advises against crying over spilled milk. Unfortunately, most of us do the exact opposite! We worry, analyze, and ruminate, hoping to turn back the clock. No matter how persistently we ponder the problem, it won't happen. So instead of dwelling on what if... take action! In such a situation, stress and (sometimes) a lack of time can prove to be your allies. Whenever you find yourself analyzing something that has already happened, ask yourself: Am I doing anything to solve the problem, or am I just speculating and wasting time? Wasting energy on pondering won't change anything and won't solve the problems for us.
Name your emotions
Contrary to appearances, this is sometimes more difficult than we think. Some people spend years discovering and learning to name and express their emotions. Talking about them doesn't come easily either, which ultimately causes us to distance ourselves from ourselves. Instead of saying directly, "I feel sad," we explain our state away. It's worth taking a few minutes each day to reflect and name exactly what you're feeling at a given moment. Name the emotions you're experiencing clearly and simply.
Think rationally
Strong emotions and racing thoughts are never good advisors for making any decisions. In crisis situations, it's worth remaining calm. This is the key to resolving difficult situations. Whether you're facing financial problems or family dramas, if Once you balance your emotions with logic, you'll be able to act rationally. A good method is to create a pros and cons list. This will help you take a sober look at the problem and its solution.
Give yourself the same advice you give to others
We tend to be experts on other people's problems, finding golden advice and reliable solutions, yet we struggle to manage ourselves and our own affairs well. We often treat ourselves much more harshly. We are critical of ourselves, which drags us down and negatively impacts how we feel about ourselves and how we manage our lives. What positively impacts our motivation, self-esteem, and self-confidence, and what we unfortunately lack, is self-compassion. It allows us to be gentler with ourselves and kind to ourselves. It's worth trying to incorporate this practice into our lives. If we can be kind and helpful to others, why shouldn't we be kind to ourselves?
