Veganuary – start the year by cutting back on meat and animal products

Veganuary – zacznij rok od ograniczenia mięsa i produktów odzwierzęcych

For many of us, the beginning of the year is a time for change and implementing New Year's resolutions. Want to take care of your health while doing good for the world and animals? Join Veganuary and reduce your consumption of meat and animal products.

Veganuary – what is it?

Veganuary, or simply Vegan January, is an annual challenge run by the British non-governmental organization of the same name. The campaign began in 2014. Its main goal is to encourage as many people as possible to adopt a vegan diet during the first month of the year. The timing chosen by the organizers seems ideal – January is when we are most inclined to make changes in our lives, including dietary changes. Data collected by Veganuary shows that for many participants of the January challenge, switching to a plant-based diet for one month leads to a permanent lifestyle change.

Statistics show that the challenge is becoming increasingly popular each year. Consumers are becoming more aware of how their diet impacts the environment, animal husbandry conditions, and animal health.

Vegan cosmetics – what is it?

People following a vegan diet not only avoid consuming animal products but also use cosmetics that contain ingredients of animal origin or have been in contact with them during the production process. Ingredients that should not be included in vegan cosmetics include honey, beeswax and bee venom, silk, milk, lanolin, collagen, elastin, keratin, carmine, and snail slime.

Vegan cosmetics are based on plant and herbal extracts, minerals, and plant extracts. The most popular plant ingredients, which are in no way inferior to those of animal origin, are: aloe vera, calendula, algae extract, shea butter, cocoa butter, argan oil, coconut oil, and bamboo powder. The most popular minerals are: mica, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, kaolin, cosmetic clays, and silica. It's worth remembering that natural cosmetics and vegan cosmetics shouldn't be equated. Vegan cosmetics don't have to be entirely natural to be vegan. They simply need to be free of animal-derived ingredients.

Vegan cosmetics – why is it worth it?

Similar to a plant-based diet, using vegan cosmetics is a lifestyle that benefits not only the user but also the environment and animals. At Annabelle Minerals, we not only ensure that our products are free from animal-derived ingredients, but we also strive to ensure they are natural and responsibly packaged in reusable and/or recyclable packaging.
