Rice water is one of Asian women's favorite beauty remedies. For years, women have been appreciating its nourishing properties and using homemade tonics for both skin and hair. It's impossible not to follow their lead! In today's article, we'll share a quick recipe for making a rice water concoction and reveal the versatile benefits of these unassuming white grains.
Benefits of rice water
Rice is a fantastic antioxidant. It contains phytic acid, iron, potassium, vitamin E, niacin, and riboflavin. Regularly drinking rice water greatly improves skin elasticity, tightens pores, lightens discolorations, and improves overall skin tone. Furthermore, the toner is great for soothing all types of redness, calming irritation, and calming inflammation. Regular use also beautifully softens, smooths, and moisturizes the skin, and above all, pleasantly relaxes, unwinds, and prepares it for subsequent skincare products. But that's not all. Rice water adds incredible shine and softens hair, protecting it from UV rays and other harmful external factors. Simply add a little water to a mask or conditioner, or use it as a rinse – it wonderfully improves blood circulation in the scalp and nourishes hair follicles. Brunettes should, however, bear in mind that rice can leave a white residue on the strands (an effect similar to dry shampoo), so it is worth taking a moment to rinse the hair with clean water right after.

Making rice tonic is really quite simple. The most important thing is to use good-quality rice, preferably organic, to prepare the rice water. Then, pour the main ingredient into a bowl and pour cooled, boiled water (mineral water is also fine) over it, about 2 centimeters above the rice. Let it steep for a few dozen minutes. When the water becomes cloudy, strain it and pour it into a small bottle. This tonic can be stored in a dark, cool place for several days.

There are many ways to use rice water for skincare. The most popular form is as a toner. Simply pour a small amount onto a cotton pad and gently wipe your face. The guaranteed result is clean, fresh, soft, and radiant skin. However, rice water also works great as a mask, either as an addition or on its own. Sheet masks have been popular lately, so why not make one yourself? Just a regular tissue or paper towel, shaped to fit your face, and soak it in rice water. After fifteen minutes, your skin will be brightened, very pleasant to the touch, and full of energy. Our rice water mixture is also useful for oiling wet hair. Just spray your hair with water just before applying the oil, and it will be even more nourished, full, and shiny. As mentioned above, a rice rinse also has a wonderful effect on our strands, adding a beautiful shine. You can also use the water in your bath. Just pour half a liter of rice tonic into the bathtub and your skin will be softer, more delicate to the touch and smoother.
In short, it's not without reason that Korean skincare is renowned for its effectiveness worldwide. Asian women are renowned beauty experts, and what's more, they are living proof that skincare isn't just about using expensive, pre-made cosmetics. It's a holistic approach, and there are several methods that, when combined, result in well-groomed, radiant, and healthy skin. Using rice water is one of them, so if you've never tried it before, be sure to give it a try. Your skin will thank you for it.
