Each of us dreams of beautiful skin—free from discoloration and signs of fatigue. To achieve this, we use expensive cosmetics and supplements, even though we know they don't always deliver satisfactory results. So, will the products our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used work for us? Can naturally derived herbs ensure the beauty of our skin and hair year-round?
Herbs have been known in our culture for many years – they helped our great-grandmothers and grandmothers, and now they should also occupy an important place in our home medicine cabinets. These days, we often forget about the valuable beauty and health-promoting properties of many herbs. Yet, infusions from these plants can effectively alleviate acne symptoms and strengthen hair and nails. So which herbs should we choose to keep our skin radiant and healthy all year round? Introducing hibiscus and nettle !
Hibiscus , or more accurately, rose hips, originated in Asia and Africa, where they still occur naturally today. They are primarily known for their health-promoting properties. They contain many valuable nutrients , including vitamin C, organic acids, flavonoids that prevent inflammation, polyphenols—antioxidants, and polysaccharides that strengthen immunity. A hibiscus flower infusion stimulates metabolism, and when consumed regularly, lowers blood pressure, effectively fights colds, and even aids weight loss. It can be found in anti-aging cosmetics because it improves skin elasticity. It is particularly recommended for people with vascular skin, as it effectively soothes irritations and improves the skin's appearance. The vitamin C and organic acids in rose hips also have a beneficial effect on hair, giving it shine and a fresh look.
Nettle , or more precisely, its root and leaves, contain biologically active compounds such as alkaloids, agglutinin, acids (butyric, formic, palmitic, pantothenic, linoleic, and linolenic), chlorophyll, histamine, flavonoids, serotonin, sterols, vitamins A, C, E, and K, anthocyanins, fructose, and oligosaccharides. Additionally, the plant contains carotene, tannins, vitamin B2 , and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and silicon. Nettle root is used to treat urinary tract infections, while the herb is excellent for treating allergies, relieving inflammation and pain. Nettle strengthens hair, cleanses skin of imperfections, and accelerates metabolism. In its powdered form, it's an excellent ingredient in fruit or vegetable smoothies.
It takes so little to look radiant all year round!
